Drawing on a comparative case study involving University of Aveiro (Portugal), University of Twente (Netherlands) and Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), Liliana Fonseca analyzes how universities interact with regional government authorities in innovation strategy and policymaking under different regional contexts. She concludes by emphasizing the importance of internal alignment within universities, the role of the individual agency, the capability of universities to adapt their expertise to the regional needs and the compatibility of regional and international profiles.
